A portrait of David Beaulieu

Dr. David Beaulieu (an enrolled member of the Minnesota Chippewa Tribe, White Earth Reservation) is an Emeritus Professor of Education Policy Studies at Arizona State University where he served as the Director of the Center for Indian Education from 2004 to 2009 and a Professor of Education Policy Studies. He was also the editor of the Journal of American Indian Education which focuses on research and policy issues related to the education of American Indians and Alaska Natives. He was formerly the Director of the Office of Indian Education US. Department of Education, Vice President at Sinte Gleska Tribal College and the Commissioner of Department of Human Rights for the State of Minnesota being the first American Indian to be appointed by Governor as a Commissioner in State Government. Dr. Beaulieu is currently serving as the Ruth Myers Endowed Professor of American Indian Education at the University of Minnesota-Duluth.
